A good horse will teach you more than a great instructor ever could

We have purchased a new lesson mare from Jenn & Dan Alliban of Carstairs, AB.  She is a lovely appaloosa, well broke and has an awesome temperment.  She is yet to be named and pictures will be coming soon.

1988 ApHCC Mare

Kachina
Kachina is a 1988 Reg. ApHCC chestnut mare.  She stands 15.2hh and is very well put together.  She is very well broke and knows her stuff.  The picture above was just before the snowball fight.  She would duck so the snowballs would miss her and even when they did accidentally get her she didn't even twitch.  Kachina is best suited for intermeidiate riders as she has a lot of get up and go.  Somebody forgot to tell her she was 19 years old as she acts more like she is 6.

My first horse and main lesson mount

BJ
BJ is a 1989, 16.2 hand registered appaloosa gelding. He is my first horse and therefore has a special place in my heart and on the farm.  He is awesome with absolute beginners and is also challenging to the more advanced riders.  BJ has competed at Spruce Meadows in the Battle of the Breeds in 2001, Team Appy placed second overall that year.  BJ loves to jump, chase cows, go for trail ride and do just about anything.

1991 APHA Mare

Gypsy
She is a 1991, 15.1 hand bay tobiano APHA mare.  She is spirited but very well behaved.  Beginners as well as advanced riders have fun with this girl.  She likes to jump and has good form too.  Gypsy's full brother, Mounts Prity Boy, is standing at stud in Europe.  Gypsy will not be used for lessons this year due to injury.

2000 Appaloosa/Percheron

Fatty
Applejack or Fatty as he is known around the farm, is an 8 year old, 16.1 hand appaloosa/percheron gelding.  He is a gentle giant.  He is really good with beginner rider as he has no desire to do anything stupid, that would be work to him.  He does jump but it has to be 2' 6 or higher or he'll knock it down, so only my more advanced students jump with him.  Fatty can be a bit too laid back somedays.  He loves attention and is usually the first to the gate looking for food.
